Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it was selected as the No. 1 basic local government nationwide in the ‘2023 Safe Restaurant Operation Excellence Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and received a ministerial commendation.
This evaluation was conducted targeting 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 225 cities, counties, and districts nationwide that designate and operate safe restaurants.
The district operates the ‘Gwangsan Safe Restaurant’ program, which designates restaurants that meet certain conditions to improve dining culture vulnerable to infectious diseases.
Owners of ‘Gwangsan Safe Restaurants’ practice five infectious disease prevention activities: ▲daily disinfection ▲wearing masks ▲providing individual plates ▲hygienic management of spoons and chopsticks ▲and placing hand sanitizers.
As of the end of last year, the district had designated 374 ‘Gwangsan Safe Restaurants.’
Through this, the number of restaurant owners participating in establishing a safe dining culture has increased, and meaningful changes have appeared as the public and private sectors work together to establish a safe dining culture.
With these achievements, the district ranked first among basic local governments nationwide by receiving excellent results across nine indicators in five areas: goal setting, operation and inspection performance, promotion, budget execution, and other achievements.
