Path Opened for Expansion of Applications in the Firefighting Field
Paratech, a specialized fire-fighting equipment company, announced on the 8th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EOC, a leading domestic thermal imaging camera company, to expand the application of thermal imaging cameras equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the fire-fighting sector.
Through this MOU, both companies agreed to collaborate on ▲advancing fire detection functions of fire-fighting robots ▲developing and marketing application products utilizing thermal imaging camera technology ▲enhancing fire detection technology of cameras applying AI technology ▲obtaining certifications related to thermal imaging cameras in the fire-fighting field.
EOC succeeded in domestic production of thermal imaging IP cameras in 2015. Last year, it developed the first edge-type AI semiconductor-applied thermal imaging camera in Korea. Recently, EOC passed quality tests from FLIR, the global number one thermal imaging camera company. This achievement allows EOC to be the first in the world to attach the ‘Thermal by FLIR’ logo on its self-produced products and sell them in overseas markets.
A Paratech official stated, “Since all large-scale fires such as logistics warehouse fires and IDC center fires start from small flames, it is very important to establish an environment that can detect fires early and respond promptly.” He added, “With the recent expansion of unmanned facilities and reduction of management personnel, fire control and initial response using AI technology and fire-fighting robots can be the best solution.”
He continued, “Even before the MOU, Paratech has been applying EOC’s thermal imaging cameras to its self-developed fire-fighting robots,” and added, “We will strive to expand the application of AI technology in fire-fighting sites starting from this MOU.”
Paratech has been supporting fire-fighting robots in the ‘2023 Testbed Seoul Demonstration Support Project’ conducted by EOC, continuing their cooperation. Paratech’s fire-fighting robots are scheduled to undergo demonstration at the COEX Trade Center later this month. The Testbed Seoul Demonstration Project is a program by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to pilot innovative products and services of the 4th Industrial Revolution in municipal sites, supporting companies in market development and commercialization, and will run until September this year.
