Promotion of a Parking Tower with a Capacity of 310 Vehicles
Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, has created two temporary public parking lots in the central shopping district of the provincial government new town and began operation on the 8th.
The newly established parking lots include Sanhap-ri Temporary Public Parking Lot 1 with 38 spaces and Temporary Public Parking Lot 2 with 42 spaces, securing a total of 80 additional parking spaces.
The central shopping district of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government new town has a total of 211 public parking spaces, but due to the concentration of commercial facilities, parking space shortages and illegal parking issues have continuously occurred.
Yecheon-gun secured the site for the temporary public parking lots for residents' safety and convenience by signing a free lease contract with Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, the landowner, until 2025.
Yecheon-gun is currently promoting a parking tower construction project with 310 spaces on the site of the first public parking lot, with a project cost of about 14 billion KRW including 7 billion KRW from provincial funds, and it is expected that the creation of temporary public parking lots will help resolve parking space shortages that may occur during the construction of the parking tower.
Kim Hak-dong, Mayor of Yecheon-gun, said, “We will continue to strive to secure parking spaces that add convenience for users of nearby stores and help improve the walking environment for residents.”
