Give 950 Won as Change
Throw It at the Part-Timer and Leave the Store
Come Back Asking for Coins to Be Returned
A video of a man throwing coins at a part-time worker (alba-saeng) simply because he was in a bad mood has been released, sparking controversy.
On the 5th, a post titled "Has anyone ever been hit with 950 won?" was uploaded on social media. Part-timer A asked a male customer at the register, "What size bag would you like?" The customer silently stared at A, then picked up coins worth 950 won from his change and threw them at A.
Watching the video, when A showed the customer two shopping bags of different sizes, the customer, who was touching the coins on the counter, threw them at A. A, hit by the coins, froze on the spot. When A asked for an apology, the customer shamelessly said, "I’m in a bad mood because of something. That’s why," without apologizing.
Another employee working with A said, "Still, you shouldn’t throw coins. You need to apologize." The customer replied, "Sorry, but I have my reasons," picked up only 100 won, and left the store calmly. Later, the customer returned and demanded the rest of the money back, which another employee gave him.
A, who also works as an actor, said, "I started this cosmetics part-time job thinking it would be good to gain experience while acting, but in two years of working, this was the first time, actually the first time in my life, I was showered with coins."
He added, "It was so absurd that I just stayed still and laughed, but watching it again made me upset. I thought about pressing charges, but I’m scared he might come back and cause trouble, and I’m worried my parents would be upset if they found out, so I’m posting this here." He also said, "I miraculously dodged with the shopping bag and wasn’t hurt. If he comes again, I’ll report it."
Netizens who saw the post responded with comments such as, "That’s assault. You should press charges immediately," "People who only care about their own feelings are always rude to part-timers and don’t consider their feelings," "This reminds me of when I worked part-time. There were quite a few people who threw money," and "He’s the worst of the worst."
