The Row, Loro Piana, Loewe Showcase
The distribution industry is witnessing fierce competition among luxury platforms from the beginning of the year. Following Coupang's acquisition of the world's largest luxury fashion platform Farfetch at the end of last year, SSG.com is partnering with the global luxury e-commerce platform NET-A-PORTER to launch an overseas direct purchase luxury store.
SSG.com announced on the 8th that it will open an official overseas direct purchase brand store of the global luxury e-commerce platform ‘NET-A-PORTER’.
Founded in the UK in 2000, NET-A-PORTER currently offers a diverse range of new products weekly from over 800 women's luxury fashion and beauty brands to 6 million consumers across more than 170 countries worldwide.
NET-A-PORTER belongs to the YOOX Net-A-Porter Group, a Swiss Richemont-affiliated e-commerce operator, and boasts a high-quality curation of luxury women's apparel. In addition to NET-A-PORTER, the YOOX Net-A-Porter Group operates four independent platforms: the men's luxury platform Mr Porter, the online designer brand outlet The Outnet, and the fashion & art specialized platform YOOX.
Considering the steady increase in domestic consumer traffic to global luxury sites, SSG.com has formed a strategic partnership with the YOOX Net-A-Porter Group, which leads the global luxury platform market. Through this partnership, SSG.com will introduce to the domestic market approximately 200,000 products, including exclusive collections that NET-A-PORTER exclusively develops with global luxury brands, newly released products not yet available domestically, and limited edition items. By integrating product databases, shopping convenience and product reliability have been enhanced. Another advantage is that consumers can confidently purchase high-end luxury brand products such as The Row, Loro Piana, and Loewe, which were previously difficult to access through existing online distribution channels.
In the future, SSG.com plans to sequentially open brand stores of other platforms under the YOOX Net-A-Porter Group, such as Mr Porter.
Jang Ji-cheol, head of overseas sourcing and direct purchase at SSG.com, said, “Requests for business partnerships from global companies are increasing,” and added, “We will expand our luxury lineup to enhance competitiveness in the domestic online luxury direct purchase market.”
