Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 8th that it has completed the 'Crime Prevention Infrastructure Construction Project' in the Bulgwang 2-dong area in collaboration with the Crime Prevention Response Division of the Eunpyeong Police Station to create a safer Eunpyeong-gu.
The 'Crime Prevention Infrastructure Construction Project' is a project that installs Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) facilities in places where residents feel a high level of anxiety to create a safe residential environment. This project was selected and promoted last year through the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee's public contest.
The target area, Bulgwang 2-dong 400-6, is a region with steep slopes and many narrow, dark alleys. Residents expressed the need for community activation and lighting facilities to live safely, as well as the necessity to create safe school routes around schools.
Accordingly, the district increased the utilization of the 'Pet Patrol Team' by installing rest areas where residents can naturally monitor the surroundings and leash holders for pets.
Additionally, location information and emergency bell guide signs were installed to navigate the complex alleys, and safety lights, solar-powered road markers, and logo projectors were installed to secure illumination. Handrails and safety carpets were installed on elementary school routes to create a village safe from traffic accidents and crimes.
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "We will strive to maintain and manage the facilities to ensure a safe environment continues," and added, "We will do our best to make Eunpyeong-gu a place where residents can live with peace of mind."
