"4 People Ordering 3 Servings of Meat and 1 Bowl of Makguksu"... Owner Refuses Order

CEO "If Not Ordering for Four, Eat Separately"
Netizens "Why? It's Not an All-You-Can-Eat Place"

A man visiting a restaurant inside a jjimjilbang with his family at the end of the year was refused service for his order.

According to a recent JTBC program 'Sageon Banjang', a man in his 50s who visited a restaurant operated within a jjimjilbang with his family ordered three servings of meat and one serving of Makguksu.

The owner said, "If four people came, you have to order four servings of meat," adding, "You either order four servings of meat or have one person eat separately."

Mr. A asked the owner, "I understand what you mean, but I didn’t order less than the number of people, and I ordered Makguksu because I didn’t want meat. Is that not allowed either?" However, he eventually had to order four servings of meat and one serving of Makguksu.

He added, "I left some meat uneaten. I don’t understand a restaurant that insists on ordering meat strictly according to the number of people."

Professor Park Sang-hee, who appeared as a panelist on the broadcast that day, said, "Asking customers to order according to the number of people is something I’ve seen in coffee shops because people tend to sit and chat for an hour or two," and added, "What if there is a vegetarian in a group meeting held at a meat restaurant?"

Also, lawyer Yang Ji-yeol said, "I apologize to the owners of the meat restaurants I have visited so far. Our family has a small appetite, so we have never ordered according to the number of people," and added, "If a family like ours goes, we wouldn’t be able to eat meat. If four people went and ordered three servings, I think that would still be polite, but this is too much."

Netizens expressed similar opinions. They commented, "It’s amazing that someone came up with the idea that one person should eat separately. It seems like they are about to close the business soon," "Why would you eat after hearing something like that? Just leave," "It’s not an all-you-can-eat place, so why?", and "If it were me, I’d eat separately. Then they’d have to clear two seats anyway."
