Lee Jun-seok "Possible Alliance with Lee Nak-yeon in General Election... Multiple Scenarios Exist"

"Constituency Candidates May Run Jointly Across Parties"
"If Leaving the Party, Hope They Clearly Define Their Direction"

Lee Jun-seok, former leader of the People Power Party, who is leading the formation of the tentatively named 'Reform New Party,' recently stated that "it is possible to hold an election through a loose alliance" regarding the possibility of forming an alliance with Lee Nak-yeon, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

On the 5th, Lee appeared on CBS No Cut News' YouTube broadcast and said, "I heard that former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon is someone who can break the fixed stereotypes people have with a shocking move."

He continued, "I thought those unexpected aspects could create synergy," adding, "There are various scenarios. If we come together to form one party, the proportional representation lists of each side would be mixed, causing conflicts between the two forces. However, in the case of constituencies, it is also possible to run candidates by merging parties or running under one ballot number."

However, he drew a line by saying, "There is not yet a definite answer among the members about even doing this," and "(I have) only exchanged New Year's greetings with former leader Lee Nak-yeon."

Lee also said, "Former leader Lee Nak-yeon seems to be moving a little later than expected due to the stabbing incident involving Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party," and added, "If a third zone is established in the opposition with a form that creates synergy, the public will take interest."

Additionally, during the YouTube broadcast, in a video letter segment addressed to former leader Lee Nak-yeon, Lee Jun-seok requested, "If you leave the party, I hope the declaration of withdrawal clearly reflects your goals," and said, "People are curious whether former leader Lee Nak-yeon can completely give up all the political assets he has in the Democratic Party and start anew."

Earlier, Lee Nak-yeon's side hinted that they would officially announce their departure from the Democratic Party and the start of forming a new party as early as this week. However, following the stabbing incident involving Lee Jae-myung on the 2nd, the timing of the decision on his political future seems to be somewhat delayed.
