Daegu City will participate in the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024) with 16 local companies starting from the 8th to support the global market entry and network building of regional innovative technology companies.
CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is one of the world's top three IT exhibitions held annually in January in Las Vegas by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) of the United States since 1967. The world's top three exhibitions are the US CES, Spain's MWC, and Germany's IFA.
In the early days of the event, the exhibition focused on consumer electronics such as TVs and PCs, but with the mobile revolution of the 2010s represented by smartphones, the exhibition scope has expanded to various industries such as mobility and healthcare, establishing itself as a global event to quickly grasp the latest technology trends of the year.
The theme of CES 2024, selected by the Consumer Technology Association, is "All Together, All On." It carries the meaning of solving global challenges through the integration of advanced technologies including AI (artificial intelligence) across all industries.
According to the organizer's statistics, more than 4,000 companies from 150 countries are expected to participate in the exhibition, and Korea is expected to send over 700 large corporations and venture startups, following the United States (1,148) and China (1,104).
At the CES 2024 Daegu Company Pavilion, 16 innovative technology companies including Enercamp, Boguk Electronics, and UNDI will exhibit various products utilizing artificial intelligence, mobility, and robotics technologies to meet buyers and investors. In particular, Boguk Electronics and LUL Korea will operate experience booths for Deep Sleep equipped with AI functions and electric bicycles, respectively.
Notably, at CES 2024, eight Daegu companies won the "CES Innovation Award," breaking the record for the most awards ever, compared to only five last year. The CES Innovation Award is given by the Consumer Technology Association to products worldwide that demonstrate outstanding technology, design, and innovation, making it a highly meaningful award for companies preparing to enter overseas markets that require international technological credibility.
The companies that won the Innovation Award this year (8 companies) are Enercamp, Inception Lab, Edplus, Daeyoung Chaebi, Intin, Linkface, Yellosis, and Mobin.
Daegu City is operating the 6th "Daegu 4th Industrial Youth Experience Group," providing 30 local youths with opportunities to attend CES 2024 and explore the Silicon Valley venture startup ecosystem, fostering their spirit of challenge and dreams for experiencing the latest new technologies and global expansion.
Choi Un-baek, Director of Future Innovation Growth at Daegu City, who leads this CES delegation, said, "The record number of Innovation Awards in 2024 signifies that local innovative companies are adapting well to the rapidly changing technological environment such as generative AI," and added, "We will do our best to achieve the best results during CES based on these award achievements."
