Public Wanted Notice for 50s Suspect Who Killed a 60s Store Owner and Fled
Similar Modus Operandi to Yangju 50s Woman Murder Case
The face of a man in his 50s, wanted for killing a 60-year-old shop owner at an underground cafe in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, has been released. The police have escalated the case to a public manhunt and are tracking the suspect.

On the 5th, Ilsan Western Police Station announced that they have released the description and photo of the suspect in his 50s, who is accused of strangling a 60-year-old female shop owner, Ms. A, at an underground cafe in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, around 7 p.m. on the 30th of last month, and have initiated a public manhunt. The suspect is approximately 170 cm tall, has a shaved head, and was wearing a hat and sneakers. However, there is a possibility he may have changed clothes. It is currently understood that he is using cash payments and moving on foot over short distances.

The police received a report around 3 p.m. on the 31st of last month, a day after the incident, stating, "My mother could not be reached, so I went to the shop she runs, but the door was locked." The police, along with fire authorities, opened the locked door of the underground bar and found Ms. A deceased inside. After examining the condition of the body, the police have been pursuing the suspect, considering the possibility of a murder case.
A police official stated, "It has been determined that the suspect had no prior acquaintance with the victim," and added, "We are tracking the suspect based on nearby CCTV footage and escape routes." The police also announced that they plan to offer a reward of up to 5 million won to anyone who provides decisive information or reports leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Meanwhile, around 8:30 a.m. today, a woman in her 50s was found dead at a cafe in Gwangjeok-myeon, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi Province. The police noted signs of assault on the body and that the victim died from strangulation. Given the similarities in the methods of the two crimes, they are not ruling out the possibility that the same perpetrator is responsible.
