Imsil-gun Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Agricultural Machinery Rental Business Evaluation

Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk Province, was selected as an excellent institution in the agricultural machinery rental business evaluation.

The county announced on the 4th that it received a commendation from the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as a local government promoting agricultural mechanization and secured 100 million won in project funds.

This award was achieved in recognition of its contributions to promoting mechanization in field farming, agricultural machinery rental business, and expanding the distribution of agricultural machinery through the evaluation of agricultural machinery rental business operations.

The county was selected as an excellent institution by receiving excellent or higher grades in more than half of the 20 evaluation items for the operation of the agricultural machinery rental business office.

The project funds received this time are expected to greatly contribute to promoting the mechanization rate of field farming in the county.

In addition to operating the agricultural machinery rental business office, the county actively promoted the farm work agency business, completing farm work agency services for about 350 farms covering 150 hectares last year.

Thanks to this operation, it was evaluated as having greatly contributed to solving the problems of rural aging and labor shortages.

This year, the county secured 350 million won in national and provincial funds for projects such as the main production area integrated mechanization project and safe disposal support for agricultural by-products.

They plan to actively operate a field-experienced agricultural machinery rental business office that farmers can feel directly on-site.

Last year, the county expanded the operation of the field-experienced agricultural machinery rental business, re-extended a 50% rent reduction, and additionally operated farm work agency services for harvesting rice beans, fulfilling various roles helpful for farm work.

Also, to prevent accidents, safety education is provided when renting agricultural machinery, and for some machinery, usage education is given to inexperienced farmers, along with support for obtaining small construction machinery licenses.

In particular, a visiting farm work agency team was operated for elderly small-scale farmers, directly performing rotary tillage, ridge making, and plastic mulching for farms owning less than 0.5 hectares and farmers aged 70 or older in the county, receiving great response from elderly small-scale farmers.

County Governor Shim Min said, “Despite difficult internal and external circumstances, Imsil-gun has been honored as an excellent institution leading the promotion of agricultural mechanization thanks to the great interest and encouragement of farmers who have steadily continued farming. We will continue to strive to strengthen the county’s agricultural competitiveness.”
