Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will host the '2024 The North Face Cup Cheongsong National Ice Climbing Championship' on the 6th at the Ice Climbing World Cup Stadium in Naeryong-ri, Cheongsong-gun.
Hosted by the Korea Alpine Federation and organized by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Alpine Federation, with support from Cheongsong-gun, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, this competition will feature about 100 domestic athletes competing in the lead and speed categories, showcasing their honed skills to the fullest.
In particular, on the day following the national championship, the 7th, the '2024 Cheongsong Ice Climbing Festival' will be held at the ice climbing wall behind the Cheongsong World Cup Stadium, stimulating climbers' spirit of challenge by climbing natural ice walls rather than competition structures.
The venue will also host various exhibitions promoting Cheongsong's agricultural specialties and tourism, and an ice wall is set up behind the climbing wall, offering spectators a variety of attractions.
Yoon Kyung-hee, the county governor, stated, "Through the '2024 The North Face Cup Cheongsong National Ice Climbing Championship,' which boasts the highest domestic prestige, and the '2024 Cheongsong Ice Climbing World Cup' held on the 13th and 14th, Cheongsong's position as the undisputed 'Mecca of Mountain Sports' will be firmly established."
