According to the legal community on the 3rd, the Criminal Division 33 of the Seoul Central District Court (Chief Judge Kim Dong-hyun) has changed the trial date for Lee's perjury coaching charge from the originally scheduled 8th of this month to the 22nd, by its own authority.

The trial date for Lee's 'Daejang-dong, Wirye, Seongnam FC, Baekhyeon-dong suspicions' case has also been postponed from the 9th of this month. The court changed the trial date to 'to be designated later' and plans to hold a pre-trial preparation hearing on the 12th to discuss trial procedures.

This appears to be a measure based on the judgment that Lee is currently receiving recovery treatment after suffering internal jugular vein damage and will find it difficult to participate in the trial for the time being. Defendants in criminal cases are required to attend the trial.

The trial for Lee's 'Baekhyeon-dong suspicions and the late Kim Moon-gi's false statements' related to violations of the Public Official Election Act, which is being heard by another division of the same court, is scheduled for the 19th of this month. This trial date may also be subject to change.

If the trial schedule continues to be postponed, the verdict for Lee's case may not be delivered before the 22nd National Assembly election (general election) scheduled for April 10 this year.

Lee was attacked in the neck with a weapon by a man in his 60s during his visit to the site of the new Gaduk Airport in Busan the previous morning. Lee has been receiving recovery treatment for two days after being moved from the intensive care unit to a general ward at Seoul National University Hospital.
