‘Cheongsong Sarang Currency’ Leads Local Economy Revitalization Again This Year

Cheongsong-gun Starts Selling Cheongsong Love Currency in 2024

Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will distribute and sell the ‘Cheongsong Love Currency,’ which has been driving local economic revitalization since last year, starting from the 4th.

Cheongsong-gun started selling the 2024 Cheongsong Love Currency from the 4th.

Cheongsong-gun plans to issue a total of 70 billion KRW worth of ‘Cheongsong Love Currency’ in 2024 to invigorate the local economy and stimulate the economy through increased consumption.

It plans to circulate 62 billion KRW through a permanent 10% discount sale, which is similar to the issuance amount in 2023. In particular, various policy allowances such as the farmers’ allowance and support for agricultural product delivery fees will be issued separately in Cheongsong Love Currency to boost local demand.

According to a county official, since the Cheongsong Love Currency will continue to offer discount benefits to residents who purchase it in 2024 as well (the 10% discount sale will last until 62 billion KRW is exhausted), it is expected to continue receiving positive responses from residents. It is also anticipated to have a positive effect by helping small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn recover their economic activities and revitalizing the stagnant local economy.

County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “Last year, during the difficult times caused by the spread of COVID-19, the active participation of residents in purchasing and using the Cheongsong Love Currency greatly helped stimulate the local economy,” and added, “This year as well, I hope many will use the Cheongsong Love Currency to help recover the contracted local economic activities and stabilize the unstable consumer sentiment.”

Cheongsong-gun plans to ensure transparent circulation order of the Cheongsong Love Currency through continuous crackdowns on illegal distribution, and by issuing policy allowances and general discount sales separately starting this year, it is expected to greatly help the economy of small business owners who are struggling due to sluggish domestic demand.
