Gangdong-gu Achieves Grade 2 in Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation... One Level Up from Previous Year

Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced on the 3rd that it achieved a grade 2, one level higher than the previous year, in the '2023 Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation' conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

The 'Public Institution Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation' assesses institutions on a scale from 1 to 5 based on ▲Integrity Perception (survey results from civil petitioners and internal public officials) ▲Integrity Efforts (anti-corruption efforts carried out by the institution over one year) ▲Corruption Status Evaluation (incidence of corruption cases).

In this evaluation, Gangdong-gu not only improved its corruption perception score measured among internal employees but also achieved results such as a 20-point increase compared to the previous year in the evaluation indicator showing the will and exemplary leadership of the institution head (including grade 4 and above) in the integrity efforts category.

In particular, the district has proactively established systems to improve areas vulnerable to corruption and create a transparent organizational culture. It became the first in the nation to build a 'Real-time Department Account Status Sharing System' that allows real-time monitoring of the deposit and withdrawal status of each department's ordinary deposit accounts. Additionally, it operated 'Beetle-Lab,' a horizontal communication channel where employees directly participate and speak, to improve organizational culture.

Furthermore, to enhance the level of integrity, various activities were promoted to foster an integrity culture, including integrity meetings led by the district mayor, integrity education for all employees, strengthening integrity activities in vulnerable areas of external perception, evaluation of executive integrity and corruption risk diagnosis, and operation of Gangdong Integrity Day.

Lee Su-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "The highest priority value for public officials is responsibility and integrity," and added, "We will do our best to lead innovation based on creative administration in an environment where autonomy is guaranteed."
