Carefully Managing Safety and Welfare Livelihood Sites... Joint Inspection of Fire-Vulnerable Facilities, Youth Safe Housing Meeting, etc.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, began his first official schedule of the new year on the 2nd with a site visit to the Noryangjin Redevelopment Promotion Zone.
This reflects the determination to enhance the value of the city by fully launching the ‘Dongjak-style redevelopment and reconstruction’ as the 8th term of the local government reaches its midpoint this year.
He also carefully oversees on-site matters to strengthen the safety and welfare functions for residents. On the 2nd, he conducted an on-site inspection of fire-vulnerable facilities in the area, and on the 3rd, he attended a meeting with tenants of youth housing to hear their voices from the field.
Swift Implementation of Dongjak-style Development to Enhance Urban Value
As his first step in 2024, Park Il-ha toured the Noryangjin 2, 4, and 6 Redevelopment Promotion Zones to check the progress of redevelopment projects in the area.
First, demolition is actively underway in Noryangjin Zones 2 and 6, and he instructed that it be safely completed within the first half of the year.
In particular, he urged the prompt execution of site preparation and related procedures to ensure that projects such as the construction of sports facilities including a swimming pool in Noryangjin Zone 4 and cultural facilities including a performance hall in Noryangjin Zone 6 achieve results within his term.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, said, “We will concentrate all administrative efforts to ensure that Dongjak’s major development projects proceed faster than anywhere else this year,” adding, “Please look forward to the changing map of Dongjak District.”
Thorough On-site Safety Inspection of Fire-vulnerable Facilities Including Traditional Markets
In the afternoon, to prevent loss of life and property, related organizations such as Dongjak Fire Station, Volunteer Fire Brigade, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and Korea Gas Safety Corporation conducted safety inspections targeting fire-vulnerable facilities in the district, including boarding houses and traditional markets.
This joint inspection was carried out to prepare in advance for facilities with high fire risk due to concentrated crowds. Mayor Park Il-ha and related organizations carefully inspected sites such as the boarding houses in Noryangjin 1-dong and the Namseong Station alley market in Sadang 4-dong.
The main inspection items included ▲ proper installation and condition of fire-fighting equipment and extinguishers ▲ secured evacuation routes ▲ proper operation of fire doors ▲ and absence of obstacles or clutter.
First Autonomous District ‘Youth Safety Housing’ Tenant Meeting... Advancing Dongjak District’s Unique Welfare
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, will attend the ‘Youth Safety Housing Tenant Meeting’ held in Daebang-dong on the afternoon of the 3rd to listen to the opinions of prospective tenants, including homeless youth.
The Daebang-dong Youth Safety Housing is the first rental housing in Seoul’s autonomous districts to be preferentially supplied to youth in Dongjak District. It is scheduled for move-in on the 18th and offers rent at 30-50% of market prices through public-private cooperation in a location near a subway station.
This meeting was held to collect diverse opinions from prospective youth tenants to support stable residential life. Based on the collected opinions, the district plans to expand linked projects such as self-reliance support programs for youth preparing for independence and education and cultural programs for single-person households.
The Sadang-dong Youth Safety Housing is scheduled to begin move-in on March 18.
Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, “The hopeful new year of Gapjin has dawned,” and added, “In the new year, we will advance Dongjak District’s unique welfare that embraces all generations from infants and youth to the elderly.”
