Boy Born on January 1, 2024, Registered on January 2... District Mayor Park Sends Congratulations by Phone and Provides Birth and Childcare Service Information
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan District, began the official New Year schedule on the 2nd by congratulating the parents of the first birth registration of the Gapjin year.
The first birth registration in Yongsan District for the New Year is a boy named Yoo Cheong-ryong (alias), born on January 1, 2024. He is the first child of Mr. Yoo and Mrs. Kim, residents of Itaewon 2-dong.
The mother, Mrs. Kim, said, "I now understand why adults say you become an adult when you have a child," and added, "All mothers seem to be great."
On the 2nd, Mayor Park visited the Civil Affairs Passport Division at the district office and offered congratulations by phone to the parents who completed the birth registration, while providing guidance on child-rearing support policies and how to use them.
She explained how to apply for childbirth-related support services all at once, including the First Meeting Use Voucher and Child Allowance. She also introduced parenting services provided by the district, such as book packages, book play programs, toy rentals, and baby massage classes.
Starting this year, the monthly allowance for parents raising children aged 0 to 23 months will increase from last year's 700,000 KRW for 0-year-olds and 350,000 KRW for 1-year-olds to 1,000,000 KRW for 0-year-olds and 500,000 KRW for 1-year-olds.
On the 2nd, Mayor Park also attended the ‘Tiki-Taka of New Employees’ event. She engaged in conversation with 12 young employees appointed in 2022 and 2023 at the 10th-floor book cafe of the Yongsan District Comprehensive Administrative Town, delivering recommended books and encouraging their public service careers.
Mayor Park Hee-young of Yongsan District said, “It is meaningful to start 2024 by meeting the youngest Yongsan resident and communicating with new employees,” adding, “In the Gapjin year, I will always do my best with a humble attitude as if it were the first time to make Yongsan District a happier place.”
