More Than Double the Scale Compared to First Attendance at CES 2022
POSCO Group will participate in CES (Consumer Electronics Show), the world's largest electronics and IT product exhibition, for the third consecutive year.
POSCO Group announced on the 2nd that it will open the 'POSCO-POSTECH-Gyeongsangbuk-do Joint Exhibition Hall' together with POSTECH and Gyeongsangbuk-do, showcasing the ‘POSCO Venture Platform,’ a venture nurturing ecosystem based on POSCO Group's unique industry-academia-research infrastructure. The exhibition hall will be operated at approximately 364㎡ (about 110 pyeong) at the Las Vegas Convention Center in the United States from the 9th to the 12th.
In addition, POSCO Group will introduce venture companies possessing innovative technologies in various fields, including AI-based products and services, in line with the themes of CES 2024: ‘AI across all industries’ and ‘horizontal universal technologies across industries.’
Thirty-three venture companies will participate in this 'POSCO-POSTECH-Gyeongsangbuk-do Joint Exhibition Hall.' These include 25 venture companies discovered and nurtured through the POSCO Venture Platform and 8 venture companies fostered by Gyeongsangbuk-do, which is more than double the 14 companies that participated in POSCO Group's first CES attendance in 2022.
This year, among the venture companies attending the 'POSCO-POSTECH-Gyeongsangbuk-do Joint Exhibition Hall,' one company won the CES 2024 Best Innovation Award and nine companies received Innovation Awards.
The Best Innovation Award winner, ‘Midbar,’ is a resident company of ‘Pohang Change-up Ground,’ a POSCO Group venture nurturing facility. It possesses the technology for an ‘air-injection smart farm construction module’ that sprays water and nutrients to roots in the air, enabling crops to be freely grown without fields or paddies.
The nine Innovation Award winners include ‘Nature Glutec’ (biodegradable adhesive protein) and ‘ANPoly’ (eco-friendly new material based on nanocellulose), both founded by POSTECH alumni. Additionally, venture companies discovered and nurtured through various venture programs of the POSCO Venture Platform, such as POSCO’s startup discovery and nurturing program ‘POSCO Idea Marketplace’ and POSCO Group’s in-house ventures, were evenly represented among the awardees.
Furthermore, POSCO Group plans to hold the ‘POSCO Innovation Forum’ at CES 2024, attended by about 100 people including major domestic and international venture investors, large corporations, and venture companies, to facilitate information sharing and networking among participants.
Based on POSCO Group’s unique industry-academia-research infrastructure such as POSTECH, Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST), and synchrotron accelerator, POSCO Group has supported venture startups and nurturing through the ‘Venture Valley’ and the ‘Venture Fund’ worth 2.7 trillion KRW, established in 2019 in collaboration with top domestic and international investment management firms, enabling venture companies to grow step by step through the POSCO Venture Platform.
POSCO Group plans to continue supporting venture companies’ global market entry through the POSCO Venture Platform, while sharing venture platform know-how with local governments, government-related agencies, and large and small-medium enterprises to contribute to regional balanced development and the activation of the global venture ecosystem.
