Gangdong-gu Mayor Lee Soo-hee Presents Vision and Solutions for the Next 3 Years to Transform Residents' Lives in New Year's Address

Kangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 2nd that it plans to hold a New Year's greeting event at 3 PM on the 3rd at the Grand Theater of the Kangdong Art Center to welcome the Year of the Dragon 2024.

Specially, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will attend the New Year's greeting event in person to share the major city policies for the new year. At this event, Mayor Oh will directly inform residents about the basic plans for each key area that Seoul City will focus on this year.

On the day of the event, a space for interaction will be set up in the lobby of the Kangdong Art Center to welcome residents visiting the venue, and from 2:40 PM, before the main event, the fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) team ‘Rapolla’ will start an exciting performance. This will be followed by guest introductions, the Kangdong Citizen Awards ceremony, screening of the New Year video, the mayor’s New Year address, and an explanation of the major city policies for the new year.

The Kangdong Citizen Awards are given to residents and organizations that contributed to the development of the local community over the past year. The awardees are ▲ Social Development and Volunteer Division Organization Award: (Corporation) Kangdong Disabled Persons Association, Individual Award: Shin Dong-seon ▲ Environment Division: Lim Ji-hoon ▲ Filial Piety and Good Deeds Division: Woo Hyo-in ▲ Culture and Sports Division: Choi Seok-myung ▲ Economic Development Division: Korea Comprehensive Technology ▲ Education Division: Kim Dae-yang.

Next, after watching the New Year video themed ‘The Vigorous Change of Kangdong Designed Together,’ Mayor Lee Soo-hee will present the vision and solutions for the next three years to change the lives of residents in step with the dynamic transformation of Kangdong-gu through the New Year address.

In the New Year address, Mayor Lee Soo-hee of Kangdong-gu said, “The Year of the Blue Dragon, 2024, has dawned. Now is the time to focus all administrative capabilities on the vigorous change of Kangdong.” She added, “We will do our best and work hard this year so that Kangdong-gu can stand tall as the center of the eastern metropolitan area by receiving the vigorous energy of the Blue Dragon, and so that living in Kangdong can be a source of pride.”
