Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) hosted the '2024 Sinchon Countdown Concert' at Sinchon Yonsei-ro Star Square from 10 PM on December 31 to 12:30 AM on January 1, the first day of the new year, providing many citizens with joyful memories.
This was the second event held since January last year, with the subtitle 'Sinchon, Fall in Love at First Sight' meaning both that men and women meet and fall in love at first sight in Sinchon, and that attending the Sinchon Countdown Concert allows you to see the first snow of the new year.
From 10 PM on the 31st, a 'Sinchon Proposal Event' took place for 30 minutes, where citizens expressed love to their partners, gratitude to their families, and friendship and comfort to their friends through songs.
Following that, for two hours until 12:30 AM on the 1st, dance team 'AfroKorea', band 'Anywhere Project', DJ 'SEFO', and band 'Romantic Punch' performed lively shows for the audience.
Especially around midnight, a countdown ceremony was held amid artificial first snow decorating the sky for the new year, attracting attention with Asian Games football gold medalist player Jo Young-wook and Seodaemun-gu women's basketball team coach Park Chan-sook also participating.
Prior to this event, from 5 PM to 8 PM on the 31st at the same location, a 'Sinchon Again 2024 Street Karaoke' was held in collaboration with YouTuber 'Changhyun', where citizens participated. This performance was live-streamed on YouTube and received great response.
Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “I am grateful that many people enjoyed the 2024 Sinchon Countdown Concert, and I hope that Sinchon Yonsei-ro will be loved even more as a New Year’s celebration spot like Times Square in New York, USA.”
