After the visit, Leader Lee and the leadership paid a courtesy call on Kwon Yang-sook, the wife of former President Roh. Former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, who serves as chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, Roh’s son Geon-ho, son-in-law lawyer Kwak Sang-eon, and Supreme Council members were also present.

Ms. Kwon told Leader Lee, "Where is a tree that grows tall without shaking until it becomes a great tree? It is painful at the end of shaking, but I believe that through that process, one is trained and gains wisdom. If everything were easy, how would wisdom be born?" Chief spokesperson Kwon Chil-seung conveyed this to reporters, adding that she urged him to take care of his health. In response, Leader Lee expressed gratitude, saying, "We will work even harder to prepare well for the upcoming election and unite more."

Before moving to Gimhae, Gyeongnam, Leader Lee and the leadership visited the National Seoul National Cemetery, where they laid flowers and paid respects at the Memorial Tower, then visited the grave of former President Kim Dae-jung. Leader Lee wrote in the guestbook, "We will never forget the noble sacrifice of the patriotic spirits."

Earlier that day, Leader Lee attended the New Year greeting event held at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, marking his first official schedule of the new year. In his greeting, he said, "When people think of politics, they think politicians gather to make plans, negotiate, and lead, but I do not think so. Politics seems to be done by politicians, but ultimately it is done by the people. All power must be directed solely toward the people." He also emphasized, "The role of politics is to overcome difficult situations when circumstances are tough. When prices rise, politics must strive to prevent price increases or take measures so that the people can adapt to the increased prices."

On the 2nd, Leader Lee plans to visit the site of the new airport in Gadeokdo, Busan, to deliver messages related to Busan’s local issues, and then visit Pyeongsan Village in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, to have lunch with former President Moon Jae-in.
