Song Hojun, CEO of Ecopro, expressed his determination to secure a competitive edge through technological leadership in the secondary battery market, which has been shrinking due to the slowdown in the electric vehicle industry growth and the decline in mineral prices.
In his New Year's address on the 1st, CEO Song said, "Ecopro has been leading the market backed by differentiated high-nickel technology and the establishment of a closed loop system for manufacturing competitiveness," adding, "I hope this year will be one that triggers a 'technology coup' by further advancing high-nickel technology and developing mid-nickel and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technologies."
He pointed out, "As the business environment deteriorates, the market is transforming into one where only prepared companies and competitive players can survive," and emphasized, "Without technological leadership in the harsh reality, one cannot become the market winner."
Furthermore, he stressed, "The Ecopro brand is trusted in the market, recognized for its value, and its technological capabilities are ahead of competitors," urging, "Let us secure new customers with an even more precise compass and map."
CEO Song also highlighted the significant support from the capital market and local communities in Ecopro's growth.
He said, "Starting with Ecopro in 2007 and up to Materials last year, the strength of shareholders who participated in the capital increase process has been the growth motive," and added, "The support from local residents in Chungcheong and Pohang has also greatly contributed to our growth."
He urged employees, saying, "When Ecopro started its business 26 years ago, there was no path, and as we proceeded little by little, it was all a thorny road, but because we walked with the same heart, our path finally opened," and encouraged, "Let us unite with one heart and one mind to further widen Ecopro's path."
