#FairnessAndCommonSense
Singer Lee Seunghwan (58) posted a message with a nuance criticizing President Yoon Seok-yeol, who expressed his intention to exercise the veto power over the 'Kim Geon-hee Special Act,' on social media (SNS).
On the 30th of last month, Lee Seunghwan uploaded a concert photo on Facebook with the message "A brief talk about life in the world," along with a photo of President Yoon during his presidential candidate days. The photo showed President Yoon saying, "Why do you refuse the special prosecutor? It's because you committed a crime," during his candidacy.
Lee Seunghwan also added the hashtag ‘Fairness and Common Sense.’
This is interpreted as a criticism using President Yoon’s past remarks as a candidate in response to the presidential office’s decision to exercise veto power over the Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor law.
Earlier, when the Democratic Party of Korea passed the ‘double special prosecutor law’ alone on the 28th of last month, which included special prosecutor investigations into allegations of stock manipulation by President Yoon’s wife Kim Geon-hee and the Daejang-dong 5 billion club scandal, the Yongsan Presidential Office announced the next day that it would immediately exercise veto power as soon as the bill was sent to the government.
Lee Seunghwan, a representative pro-opposition figure in the entertainment industry, had previously posted on Facebook in April last year, shortly after President Yoon’s election, a message from former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk’s SNS saying, “Apply the ‘Yoon Seok-yeol standard’ used against the Cho Kuk family to Yoon Seok-yeol’s family and officials of the Yoon government.” At that time, he also added the phrase ‘Fairness and Common Sense.’
In addition, in September, he introduced two books side by side: former Minister Cho Kuk’s ‘Tears of Dike’ and Cho Min, Cho Kuk’s daughter’s ‘Still Moving Forward Today.’
Earlier, when President Yoon returned to duty as Prosecutor General in 2020, Lee Seunghwan uploaded related articles with a sharp comment, “Is the whole world beneath your feet?”
At that time, through another post, Lee Seunghwan wrote, “We will win. We will not be broken,” and uploaded a video of his stage performance singing ‘Song of the Sun’ at the ‘Bongha Music Festival,’ an event commemorating the late President Roh Moo-hyun. Lee Seunghwan has actively voiced his opinions by participating in events such as the ‘Candlelight Rally against the Park Geun-hye Regime’s State Manipulation’ and rallies calling for prosecutorial reform.
