Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 28th that it will focus on improving residents' quality of life through community-based policies next year.
In his New Year's address, Mayor Kim Ikang said, "We have built trust in administration through sincere communication and established the foundation of a 'dong-centered living government.' In the new year, we will meticulously review and supplement policies that residents want and need, focusing on practically enhancing their quality of life."
Seo-gu plans to inject new vitality into the region by focusing on discovering and promoting specialized projects linked to village Brand Identity (BI) centered on the Dong Administrative Welfare Centers, which are the closest institutions to residents, and by revitalizing the village choir, which is operated for the first time nationwide.
To overcome the management crisis of small business owners and self-employed individuals, who are the lifeblood of the local economy, and to strengthen their self-sustainability, Seo-gu will also promote projects such as supporting card fees for small business owners and operating the Small Business Hope Guide School.
Additionally, ‘Cheonwon Guksi,’ Seo-gu’s representative brand and a regional win-win job model, will expand from the current 4 stores to 8 stores. Along with the nation’s first family care youth allowance support, Seo-gu plans to establish a virtuous cycle sharing system by activating the public-private cooperative coupling project to eliminate welfare blind spots.
To create a sustainable eco-friendly city, Seo-gu will expand and install resource recycling stores in 18 dongs and complete ‘Together Green, Green Seo-gu’ by practicing carbon neutrality in daily life with residents.
By next year, Seo-gu plans to complete the creation of Barefoot Roads that reflect the characteristics of each region and will accelerate efforts to create an ‘attractive Seo-gu where the scent of culture flows through all four seasons’ by holding festivals that highlight Seo-gu’s unique natural scenery and characteristics by season.
Mayor Kim Ikang said, “Next year is the Year of the Blue Dragon, symbolizing challenge and success. We will move forward with infinite responsibility and pride, believing that Seo-gu sets the standard for South Korea.”
