Completion of 4-Lane Roadway with Two-Way Traffic through Gimhae Section Completion
The national highway Route 14 connecting Dong-eup in Changwon, Gyeongnam to Hallim in Gimhae will be fully opened at 2 p.m. on the 28th.
Gyeongnam Province held a road opening ceremony on the 27th to commemorate the completion of the 4-lane section in Gimhae, connecting Jinyeong-ri in Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae to Toerae-ri in Hallim-myeon, marking the full establishment of national highway Route 14 linking Changwon and Gimhae.

According to the province and Gimhae City, the national highway Route 14 road between Dong-eup and Hallim connects a 7.29 km section of a 4-lane road from Jinyeong-eup in Gimhae through Dong-eup in Changwon to Hallim-myeon in Gimhae.
The road construction, which began in March 2014 and opened this year, involved a total project cost of 281.2 billion KRW.
The completed Gimhae section connects to the already opened 11.44 km Dong-eup bypass road and the 10.5 km national highway replacement bypass road between Toerae and Nongso.
The existing replacement bypass road section from Bulamdong to Soeopsamgeori in Hallim will extend to Jinyeong New Town and also connect to the existing national highway Route 25 towards Changwon.

The opening ceremony was attended by Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, Hong Tae-yong, Mayor of Gimhae, Kim Hong-mok, Director of Busan Regional Land Management Office, National Assembly members Min Hong-chul and Kim Jeong-ho, Ryu Myeong-yeol, Chairman of Gimhae City Council, Park Hae-young, Chairman of the Construction and Firefighting Committee of the Provincial Council, provincial council members Seo Hee-bong and Kwon Yo-chan, and local residents.
The province expects that the opening of this road will complete a connecting axis for the mutual development of Changwon and Gimhae areas and increase accessibility.
It also stated that it will contribute to smooth logistics transport by connecting the southern coastal region of Gyeongnam with Busan, Ulsan, and Pohang, relieve chronic congestion on the existing national highway Route 14, and enhance transportation convenience for residents.

Governor Park said, “Smooth logistics movement through road construction will revitalize the region and lead to attracting companies and increasing jobs. Gyeongnam Province will continue to make efforts to improve accessibility in the eastern region centered on Gimhae and to newly establish a grid road network throughout Gyeongnam.”
Mayor Hong said, “The connection of national highway Route 14 will improve transportation convenience for visitors to next year’s National Sports Festival and the Paralympics and will serve as a key axis of Gimhae City’s priority projects such as the Northeast Asia logistics platform. I express my gratitude to the Busan Regional Land Management Office and the construction personnel who carried out the project.”
