Dong-A University, Busan Secondary Battery Industry-Academia Complex, Busan Technopark, and Local Universities Sign MOU for 'Secondary Battery Shared University'

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) signed an MOU for the ‘Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation (RIS) Project Busan Secondary Battery Shared University’ with the Busan Secondary Battery Industry-Academia-Research Complex, Busan Technopark, and local universities.

The signing ceremony held on the 27th at Kumyang Hydrogen Technology Quantum Center was attended by President Lee, Ryu Gwang-ji (CEO and Chairman of Kumyang) representing the Busan Secondary Battery Industry-Academia-Research Complex companies, Kim Hyung-gyun, Director of Busan Technopark, Park Dae-hyun, Head of the Academic Promotion Division at the National Research Foundation of Korea, Song Bok-cheol, Economic Advisor of Busan City, Lee Soon-jung, Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Division of Busan City, Kim Dong-hyun, Head of the Manufacturing Innovation Division of Busan City, Choi Jeong-ho, Director of Dong-A University RIS Project Group, representatives and executives of companies in the Busan Secondary Battery Industry-Academia-Research Complex, and local university officials, totaling over 100 attendees.


The participating institutions in this agreement have established a close cooperation system to nurture specialized local talent in secondary batteries as part of the Local Government-University Cooperation-Based Regional Innovation (RIS) project, aiming to enhance the expertise of workers in local secondary battery-related industries and contribute to the expansion and ecosystem development of the secondary battery industry.


Seven universities, including Dong-A University, Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Pusan National University, Silla University, Kyungsung University, and Gyeongnam Information University, signed the agreement, while 20 companies such as Kumyang, Eunice, Korea LFP, and Busan Green Energy participate in the ‘Busan Secondary Battery Industry-Academia-Research Complex.’


The education program, led by Dong-A University’s Clean Energy Convergence Components and Materials Project Group, will be held starting from the 27th at Kumyang, followed by sessions on January 3rd at Dong-A University Bumin Campus and January 10th at Lotte Hotel in Seomyeon, Busan, with about 80 participants including employees and graduate students.


President Lee Hae-woo of Dong-A University stated, “Dong-A University, as a focused university in the clean energy convergence components and materials field, is striving to respond to the changing energy paradigm by innovating hydrogen, secondary battery, and power semiconductor materials/components manufacturing industries, nurturing talent, and advancing local companies’ technologies. I hope this agreement, involving industry, academia, and research, will serve as a foundation for the secondary battery sector in the Busan region and foster practical professionals.”
