Samsung Electronics' 15 In-house Ventures and Startups Operate 'CES 2024' Exhibition Booth

'C-Lab Exhibition Hall' Records Highest Participation with 15 Companies
23 C-Lab Startups Win 'CES Innovation Awards'

Fifteen in-house ventures from Samsung Electronics' 'C-Lab' and external startups will have a dedicated exhibition hall at CES 2024. This marks the largest number ever, showcasing 15 projects and startups. C-Lab startups have been recognized for their capabilities by receiving 23 CES 2024 Innovation Awards announced by the Consumer Technology Association. CES 2024, the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, will be held from January 9 to 12 (local time) in Las Vegas, USA.

On the 28th, Samsung Electronics announced that it will set up a C-Lab exhibition hall at the 'Eureka Park' startup pavilion at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. The exhibition hall will include 10 external 'C-Lab Outside' startups, 3 startups spun off from in-house ventures, and 2 projects from the employee in-house venture program 'C-Lab Inside.'

More than 1,000 startups are participating in this year's CES. Over 130,000 visitors, including global company officials, investors, and media, are expected to attend. For C-Lab startups, this is an excellent opportunity not only to assess the global market but also to pioneer sales channels and attract new investments. Jeon Pil-gyu, Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics' Creative Development Center, said, "We will actively support C-Lab startups to enter the global stage and grow into unicorn companies." A unicorn company refers to an unlisted startup recognized with a market capitalization (enterprise value) of over 1 trillion KRW.

The 10 C-Lab Outside startups are standing out in promising industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), healthcare, and energy. Among the startups entering the C-Lab pavilion, 'Dr. Tail' will embed its service in Samsung Smart TVs launching in the U.S. starting next year. Dr. Tail is a startup offering remote veterinary consultation services. Other startups in the C-Lab exhibition hall include 'Rebuilder AI' (AI solution for generating 3D content based on smartphones), GhostPass (biometric identification and authentication solutions), and DeepX (developer of AI computation NPU and neural processing unit chips).

Three startups originating from Samsung Electronics' C-Lab Inside will also set up exhibits. These include Yellosis (urine test-based chronic disease diagnosis and management solution), Beacon (AI-based customized hair loss management solution), and Goose Labs (metaverse-based home fitness service). Two projects developed by Samsung Electronics employees under C-Lab Inside will also be unveiled at the exhibition hall. These are Ideus in the healthcare field (brainwave analysis platform) and DumboCam in the pet tech field (vision AI pet training platform). Samsung Electronics explained, "We selected two projects that received high evaluations in innovation, marketability, and completeness among the in-house nurtured projects."

C-Lab startups received 23 CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including 1 Best Innovation Award and 22 Innovation Awards. Eighteen C-Lab Outside startups and five independent C-Lab Inside startups received awards. The startup 'StudioLab,' spun off in 2021, won the Best Innovation Award. 'DeepX' and 'Yellosis,' participating in the C-Lab exhibition hall this time, each won Innovation Awards in three categories.

Through C-Lab, Samsung Electronics has nurtured a total of 872 in-house ventures and startups (397 in-house, 475 external). The cumulative investment attracted by 537 C-Lab startups (62 spin-offs, 475 outside) amounts to 1.4 trillion KRW.
