Preliminary Fine Dust Reduction Measures Issued Across Sejong

Sejong City announced that it will issue a 'Preliminary Fine Dust Reduction Measure' for the entire region from 6 a.m. on the 28th to 6 a.m. on the 29th.

The preliminary fine dust reduction measure is issued to allow the public sector to proactively reduce fine dust starting the day before when an emergency reduction measure is expected to be issued the following day.

Following the issuance of the preliminary fine dust reduction measure, public air emission facilities in Sejong will shorten and adjust their operating hours, and construction sites will implement dust reduction measures such as changing and adjusting construction hours and covering with dustproof tarps.

Additionally, a two-day vehicle operation system will be implemented for vehicles owned by administrative and public institutions as well as employees' vehicles. During the two-day system operation period, vehicles with odd-numbered license plates can operate on odd-numbered days, and vehicles with even-numbered license plates can operate on even-numbered days.

However, eco-friendly vehicles, vehicles for vulnerable groups, special-purpose vehicles, work vehicles, and vehicles carrying pregnant women, disabled persons, or infants are exempt from the two-day system.

Kim Hoesan, head of the Environmental Policy Division of Sejong City, said, “If high concentrations of fine dust continue, emergency reduction measures may be issued later.” He urged citizens to pay close attention to fine dust information and refrain from outdoor activities.
