Focusing on Job Creation for Youth Employment and Startups, Senior Workers, and Vulnerable Groups
Mokpo City has been honored with the grand prize in the job creation category of Jeollanam-do.
According to the city on the 27th, the job creation evaluation hosted by Jeonnam Province is selected by comprehensively assessing the performance of 19 items across 6 fields, including employment indicators of 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam, increases and execution status of job creation budgets, and job projects for youth, middle-aged, and vulnerable groups.

Throughout 2023, Mokpo City secured a budget of 22.3 billion KRW for job creation projects, focusing on local employment creation efforts such as supporting youth employment and entrepreneurship (147 people), middle-aged jobs (139 people), vulnerable group jobs (30,105 people), fostering social enterprises (33 companies), and selecting excellent job-creating companies (2 companies).
In particular, to support early retirement and post-retirement social activities for the middle-aged, the city promoted the Middle-aged Career-type Job Project, a Ministry of Employment and Labor public contest project, implementing roles such as small business management improvement support managers and SME technology sharing managers utilizing the experience of retired middle-aged workers, which received excellent evaluations as a result.
Additionally, the city was recognized for its contribution to supporting low-income and vulnerable groups by providing jobs, thereby aiding the livelihood of ordinary citizens and revitalizing the local economy.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, “We will continue to promote customized youth and middle-aged job support and entrepreneurship projects to create a foundation where capable local talents can settle and become self-reliant in Mokpo,” adding, “We will do our utmost to realize ‘a great Mokpo sought by youth’ and create a Mokpo full of youth and vitality.”
