LG Electronics Unveils 'Smart Home AI Agent' at CES 2024: "Realizing Liberation from Household Chores"

All-in-One Household Assistant Including Smart Home Hub
Connecting and Controlling Appliances and IoT Devices
Pet Appliances, Energy Management, Daily Support 'One for All'

LG Electronics announced on the 27th that it will unveil its 'Smart Home Artificial Intelligence (AI) Agent' for the first time at 'CES 2024,' the world's largest home appliance and IT exhibition, held in Las Vegas, USA, from the 9th to the 12th of next month (local time). This accelerates the realization of the home appliance business goal, "Zero Labor Home, Makes Quality Time," aimed at enhancing the value of life through liberation from household chores.

The Smart Home AI Agent serves as an all-purpose household assistant that helps with overall daily life, including acting as a smart home hub. It applies advanced robotics and AI technologies. Equipped with wheels on two legs and autonomous driving technology, it moves freely around the house. Based on multimodal sensing that integrates voice, sound, and image recognition, along with advanced AI processes, it precisely perceives the user's situation and condition and communicates proactively.

Using its two articulated legs, it naturally overcomes obstacles such as carpets or floor barriers. It can express rich emotions through its display. It conveniently connects and controls home appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The built-in camera, speaker, and home monitoring sensors collect real-time indoor environmental data and assist in appliance control.

The scalability of the Smart Home AI Agent is significant. Customers can remotely check on their pets outside the home and turn on lights or air conditioners in specific areas only. It controls appliances that operate unnecessarily and sends smartphone alerts for abnormal situations such as external intrusions.

When customers return home after going out, it greets them at the front door like a pet. It senses emotions through the customer's voice or facial expressions and plays music that matches the mood, fostering interaction. It provides information on traffic, weather, and schedules. By inputting data into LG’s smart home platform 'ThinQ' app, it notifies users when it is time to take medicine at a specific time.

LG Electronics expects to advance household chore liberation and improve customers' quality of life through the Smart Home AI Agent, which operates more proactively than existing smart home hubs.

Ryu Jae-cheol, President of LG Electronics H&A (Home Appliance) Business Division, said, "The Smart Home AI Agent is the result of LG Electronics’ relentless research and innovative technology for household chore liberation," adding, "We will continue to strive to become a smart life solution company that helps customers enjoy smarter and happier lives.”
