President Yoon Suk-yeol expressed his condolences to those affected by accidents that occurred during the Christmas holiday, including the apartment fire in Seoul on the 25th.

On the same day, President Yoon stated on Facebook, "During the Christmas holiday, which should be filled with joy, regrettable accidents occurred in many places, including the apartment fire site in Seoul."

He continued, "I pray for the souls of those who lost their lives and offer my condolences to the bereaved families who are grieving. I also wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accidents."

President Yoon added, "Protecting the lives and safety of the people is the greatest reason for the existence of the state. I hope all public officials related to disaster safety nationwide will do their best to protect the lives and safety of the people."

Meanwhile, in the early morning of the same day, a fire broke out in a high-rise apartment in Dobong-gu, Seoul, resulting in 2 deaths and 29 injuries.
