Geumcheon-gu Holds 'Neighborhood Sharing Campaign' for Hope Ondol Warm Winter Initiative

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that on the 22nd, it held the "Neighborhood Sharing Campaign" for a warm winter with Hope Ondol together with residents and socially responsible companies and organizations at the district office auditorium.

This campaign was organized to promote the "Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project" and to encourage residents' interest. About 150 people, including residents and businesspeople, attended and pledged to support neighbors in need.

The Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project is a representative winter neighbor-helping initiative promoted through public-private cooperation between Geumcheon-gu and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest. The district aims to raise 1.44 billion KRW by mid-February next year. The collected donations will be used for living expenses, medical costs, housing expenses, and more for local neighbors in difficulty.

On this day, Geumcheon-gu expressed gratitude by presenting certificates of appreciation to 19 outstanding donors. Additionally, 53 local key figures were appointed as the "2024 Our Neighborhood Sharing Campaign Promotion Team." The promotion team will publicize sharing projects and identify welfare blind spots.

In the relay donation event, about 30 organizations and individuals participated, drawing attention with donations such as 5 million KRW each from Goryeo Jeonghwa, Naeil Internal Medicine, and Siheung Raons Club, and 3 million KRW each from Hanil Environment, Hanil Clean, Geumcheon Environment, and Samjeong Environmental Services.

Anyone wishing to participate in the fundraising can visit their local community service center or the Welfare Policy Division to donate money or goods, or deposit into the designated Geumcheon-gu account at the Social Welfare Community Chest.

Meanwhile, from November last year to February this year, Geumcheon-gu raised a total of 2.09 billion KRW in donations and goods. The collected funds and items such as rice, ramen, and clothing were entrusted to the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest and used for low-income residents and those in welfare blind spots in Geumcheon-gu.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "Despite the difficult times due to the economic downturn and soaring prices, I am grateful that many people have shown interest and participated in sharing. Inspired by your good influence, I will do my best for a Geumcheon-gu full of hope and warmth."
