Muan-gun Samhyang-eup Jisahyeop Conducts Warm Comrade Farewell Volunteer Activities

Checking on the Delivery of Red Bean Porridge to Vulnerable Groups

The Samhyang-eup Community Security Council in Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (co-chairs Yang Seong-mun and Kim Yoon-duk) announced on the 22nd that they carried out a volunteer activity called ‘Warm Dongji Celebration’ for 100 vulnerable households in celebration of the traditional holiday Dongji.

Dongji is known as the ‘small New Year,’ a day to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one. The council visited elderly living alone, disabled individuals, and low-income families to deliver Dongji porridge.

An elderly recipient of the Dongji porridge expressed gratitude, saying, “I am truly thankful for bringing the porridge on such a suddenly cold day, and I feel very happy to eat the warm red bean porridge.”

Yang Seong-mun, the civilian chairperson, said, “I hope that the delivery of Dongji porridge conveys warmth to those in difficulty within the community. Next year, we will actively seek out residents in crisis and take the lead in resolving their issues.”

Kim Yoon-duk, the mayor of Samhyang-eup, stated, “Despite the cold weather caused by the cold wave and heavy snow, I thank the members of the Community Security Council who joined together for the vulnerable groups. We will carefully ensure that various specialized projects continue to be promoted.”

The Samhyang-eup Community Security Council carried out various projects and volunteer activities this year for marginalized groups, including cleaning for low-income families, installing insect screens, pest control disinfection, heating oil support, and school supplies support projects.
