Yeom Tae-young, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, Retires on 22nd: "Gyeonggi-do Must Lead to Change the Nation" Yeom Tae-young, Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province for Economic Affairs, held a farewell ceremony on the 22nd, concluding his 1 year and 4 months tenure as Vice Governor.

Yeom Tae-young, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeonggi Province, concluded his 1 year and 4 months tenure on the 22nd.

At the farewell ceremony, Deputy Governor Yeom said, "It was a great opportunity to learn how to approach livelihood issues in Gyeonggi Province and how to create growth engines for the Republic of Korea," adding, "Gyeonggi Province must take the lead in changing Korea. I urge all public officials in Gyeonggi Province to demonstrate their work capabilities with the mindset of setting an example where the government falls short."

Deputy Governor Yeom Tae-young was appointed in August 2022 to the newly established position of Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs to lay the foundation for the swift re-advancement of the 8th term’s focus on ‘livelihood’ and ‘economy.’ He has made various efforts to develop Gyeonggi Province and improve the quality of life for its residents, including the construction of Gyeonggi International Airport, promotion of Gyeonggi RE100, fostering future growth industries, revitalizing the social economy, and expanding opportunities for youth.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon reflected, "I feel very regretful and sad, but I send him off with a joyful heart. I made three visits to persuade him to serve as Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs, and he accepted, so we have walked together for the past 1 year and 4 months," adding, "To me, he was a comrade, a partner, and a very reliable friend."

He continued, "He is someone who will accomplish great things beyond Suwon City and Gyeonggi Province, for the Republic of Korea," and congratulated him on his departure, saying, "Thank you for your hard work, and I support you no matter what path you take in the future."

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Yeom Tae-young is known to be preparing for full-scale election campaigning after completing the reinstatement process to the Democratic Party of Korea and registering as a preliminary candidate for Suwon Mu district in January next year. He served as a secretary in the Blue House Presidential Secretariat during the Roh Moo-hyun administration and was a three-term mayor of Suwon before being appointed Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs on August 17 last year.

Gyeonggi Province is currently conducting a recruitment process for Deputy Governor Yeom’s successor and plans to appoint the new Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs in early January next year.
