Goheung-gun Selected for Job-Linked Support Housing Public Project Competition

140 Households, Total Project Cost of 35.1 Billion KRW Invested

Expected to Reduce Housing Cost Burden and Ensure Stable Local Settlement

Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 21st that it has been finally selected for the ‘2023 Second Half Job-Linked Support Housing Public Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Job-linked support housing is rental housing for young workers that combines residential and job support facilities. With this selection, the county will be able to receive up to 80% support for housing construction costs through national funds and housing and urban fund loans.

The county plans to invest a total project cost of 35.1 billion KRW, including national funds and fund budgets, to build 140 units of public rental housing along with meeting rooms and indoor exercise facilities for residents’ startups and convenience.

The target residents are young people (aged 19-39) working in small and medium enterprises or companies located in industrial complexes, entrepreneurs, newlyweds (within 7 years of marriage or with children under 6 years old), and long-term employees with minor children who have worked for more than 5 years.

Goheung-gun was selected after on-site inspections and comprehensive evaluations by the review committee, applying for this contest to reduce the housing cost burden on young people and establish a stable living base in the region due to the large-scale job creation demand following the selection of the national industrial complex candidate site for space launch vehicles, the groundbreaking of the unmanned aerial agricultural technology specialized agro-industrial complex, and the expansion of the smart complex valley.

Gong Young-min, Governor of Goheung-gun, said, “We are promoting the creation of 500 public rental houses as a key policy of the 8th local government administration, and with this contest selection, we can expect the stable settlement of young people in the region.” He added, “We will continue to strive for the housing stability and welfare improvement of young people.”

Meanwhile, the county is implementing various policies such as startup funds and housing support, visiting homecoming and rural migration briefing sessions, and strengthening post-management monitoring for returnees and rural migrants to attract and stabilize young people and returnees to farming and fishing villages.
