GS25 "UriDongnaeGS App Most Popular Among Chimaek Lovers"

GS25 announced on the 21st that, based on an analysis of delivery and pickup sales data within the ‘Our Neighborhood GS’ app from January this year to the 20th of this month, consumers who enjoyed chicken and beer were the most frequent users.

GS25 "UriDongnaeGS App Most Popular Among Chimaek Lovers"

Looking at the top 10 quick commerce order products including delivery and pickup, Thonsal Chicken ranked first, and Asahi Draft Beer Can 340ML ranked third. Bundle beer products such as Budweiser, Stella, Suntory, and Hoegaarden were also included in the top 10. Since additional promotions and discount coupons can be applied for delivery and pickup, consumers made smart purchases through the app at more affordable prices.

Besides chicken and beer lovers, consumer trends strongly showed a preference for popular products such as Jumbo Dosirak, Kim Hyeja Dosirak, Netflix Jumbo Popcorn, and Gonggan Chun Jjambbong-Jjajangmyeon. As these popular items are often sold out, consumers actively used the in-app stock inquiry feature. Especially for products like Jumbo Ramen and Gonggan Chun, there was high demand to share experiences on SNS platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, which led to more active use of pickup and delivery services.

Accordingly, the MAU (Monthly Active Users) of the Our Neighborhood GS app also increased sharply. It rose by 26.6% from 1.89 million in January this year to 2.39 million as of November. In September, it even ranked first in MAU among offline retail apps. With around 300,000 new installations this year maintaining the highest level, this trend is expected to continue.

GS25 plans to use the consumer trends analyzed this year as a foundation to provide better products and services next year. In particular, as mobile usage increases, they will accelerate the development of the Our Neighborhood GS app’s services to strengthen store competitiveness through O4O (Online for Offline) linkage and lead consumer trends.

Lee Jeongpyo, head of GS Retail’s O4O division, said, “This year, the funsumer trend, where mainly the MZ generation seeks and enjoys interesting products, and the smasumer trend, where consumers practice rational consumption amid high inflation, stood out. Especially as these consumption patterns have recently expanded to convenience store mobile apps, we will continue to introduce better products and services tailored to customers’ new consumption patterns.”
