Portal Daum's 'Movie Service' Ends After 24 Years

Daum, a portal operated by Kakao, will terminate its 'Daum Movie' service as of January 4, 2024.

On the 20th, Daum announced through a notice, "Unfortunately, this year will be the last for the Daum Movie service," adding, "The scheduled termination date is Thursday, January 4, 2024."

The Daum Movie service began in 2000. With Daum's announcement to discontinue the movie service, it will come to a grand close after 24 years.

Industry insiders believe that as Daum's market influence in the portal sector gradually diminishes, the service is being terminated as a cost-saving measure.

Daum plans to continue providing movie information through portal search.
