EU Agrees on Immigration Law Reform... Accelerates Asylum Review and Deportation Processes

The European Union (EU) has agreed on legislation to manage asylum seekers and immigrants, announced Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission.

According to AFP on the 20th (local time), the EU has agreed on new EU legislation targeting refugees, asylum seekers, and other migrants.

The revised bill includes rapid eligibility assessments for entrants who may violate regulations, the establishment of border detention facilities, and expedited deportation measures for entrants whose asylum applications are rejected.

Additionally, the bill contains provisions for EU member states to cooperate in order to alleviate the burden on southern European countries experiencing large influxes of migrants.
