Gijang-gun Wins National Local Government Childcare Policy Evaluation Award for Two Consecutive Years

Busan City District and County Evaluation Selected as Excellent Institution for 5 Consecutive Years

Gijang-gun, Busan, received the grand prize in the 2023 Childcare Policy Excellence Local Government Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

With this, Gijang-gun achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as the grand prize institution in the childcare policy excellence local government evaluation for two consecutive years.

Every year, the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluates excellent local governments across 17 metropolitan cities and 226 basic local governments nationwide based on efforts and results in promoting childcare policies such as improving childcare teachers' treatment, budget execution management, safety management, and expanding public childcare.

To improve the treatment of childcare teachers, the county implements support for safe childcare assistants and transportation expenses for childcare staff, and to promote the healthy growth of infants and young children, it provides excellent meal ingredients to daycare centers and meal voucher cards to children in home care.

In addition, the county is promoting various excellent policies to reduce the economic burden on daycare centers, such as group enrollment in the Daycare Center Safety Mutual Aid Association and operating 365 all-day daycare centers, to create a high-quality childcare environment.

County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “We are pleased that our county has received the grand prize in the childcare policy evaluation for two consecutive years. This is thanks to the passion and efforts of the related public officials who worked hard to create a safe childcare environment.” He added, “We will continue to actively promote various policies so that infants, parents, and childcare staff can all be happy in Gijang-gun.”

Gijang-gun has also been selected as an excellent institution for five consecutive years in the childcare policy evaluation of Busan’s districts and counties.
