Utilization of Fire Safety Education for Children
Korean Air recently announced that it donated 500 safety helmets made from discarded in-flight blankets to the Gangseo Fire Station in Seoul. The donated safety helmets will be used as teaching materials in earthquake simulation training at the fire safety classroom operated by the Gangseo Fire Station and will be provided to children participating in the training.
The company transformed sufficiently used in-flight blankets into safety helmets that protect the head during disasters and emergencies through recycling instead of disposal, with direct participation from employees. They decorated the helmets with various stickers symbolizing Korean Air and packaged the donation boxes.
In addition, Korean Air is actively producing recycled products using retired aircraft, in-flight blankets, and flight attendant uniforms that are discarded after sufficient use. In August, they made pouches from flight attendant uniforms and donated them, filled with medicines contributed by employees, to the Gangseo Senior Welfare Center and Incheon Yongyu Elementary School.
Korean Air stated, “We plan to continue producing eco-friendly upcycled products based on employee participation and to practice sharing with the local community while striving for ESG management.”
