Incheon City is accelerating preparations to establish a 'Welcome Center,' a one-stop service support institution for 7.08 million overseas Koreans.
On the 20th, the city held the final report meeting for the basic plan service project for the establishment of the Overseas Korean Welcome Center, presenting promotion strategies and detailed projects. This research project is a preliminary step for the installation of the Overseas Korean Welcome Center, one of the main strategies of the '10 Million City Incheon Project' announced alongside the opening of the Overseas Koreans Office in Incheon last June. Over a five-month research period, it included basic data surveys, case reviews, vision and goals, operational plans, and content design.
The five major promotion strategies of the Welcome Center announced by the service performing agency on the day are ▲ Strengthening organizational identity and capabilities ▲ Providing customized services ▲ Supporting stable settlement ▲ Building a governance ecosystem ▲ An open space for communication and exchange.

First, starting next year, the Welcome Center will build a website to gather scattered information (medical, transportation, living information, tourism and accommodation, etc.) in one place to enhance customized information accessibility for overseas Koreans.
Additionally, the Welcome Center will be established with multi-purpose shared offices, conference rooms, counseling rooms, etc., to operate educational and cultural programs involving overseas Koreans and Incheon citizens together.
The Welcome Center will be created on the 30th floor of the Songdo Booyoung Tower with an area of 1,000㎡, with design and construction starting in January next year and scheduled to open in June. The city aims to open the Welcome Center to coincide with the first anniversary of the opening of the Overseas Koreans Office under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Overseas Koreans Office, which oversees policies and projects related to overseas Koreans, currently occupies the 34th to 36th floors of Songdo Booyoung Tower.
Hwang Hyo-jin, Deputy Mayor for Political Affairs of Incheon City, said, "We hope the Overseas Korean Welcome Center will be the starting point for Incheon's leap to a world-class city and the connection of overseas Korean human resources."
