Various News Promoted on SNS for One Year

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2024 Blog and Social Media Reporters Launch Ceremony' on the 20th in the City Hall 3rd Conference Room.


The launch ceremony proceeded with First Vice Mayor Jang Geum-yong awarding certificates of commendation to six outstanding reporters who were active this year and delivering appointment letters to 62 reporters selected for 2024.

The newly selected 32 blog reporters and 30 social media reporters consist not only of university students but also freelancers, office workers, and housewives, and will be active until December 2024. The role of the reporters is to convey various news about Changwon City in a friendly and easy-to-understand manner from the citizens' perspective. They will post articles and videos on the city's official SNS (Instagram, KakaoStory) and blog every month to enhance understanding of city administration.


In particular, the social media reporters selected to revitalize the city's official social networking services (SNS) will create content directly from the citizens' viewpoint and plan to deliver events and on-site coverage quickly and vividly. The English blog reporters provide information about various attractions and city administration news to foreigners residing in Changwon.


The city plans to support the blog and social reporters actively through various online and offline means. In addition to providing a fixed activity fee (manuscript fee), outstanding reporters will be commended at the end of the year. The city will also provide reporter training and special coverage of the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, as well as fam tours of the Masan Chrysanthemum Festival, to promptly deliver accurate information.


First Vice Mayor Jang Geum-yong said, “It is very encouraging that not only university students but also housewives, writers, and various other citizen groups participate in the Changwon City reporters. I hope the reporters will actively engage with pride as practical ambassadors of the city and demonstrate their individual capabilities.”


Meanwhile, the operation of the Changwon City Blog and Social Media Reporters began in 2013 and is now in its 11th year. The diverse customized content produced by participants ranging in age from their 20s to 60s has received great response from citizens.
