BPA Promotes Road Name Address Registration for Major Buildings in Busan Port Wharf ... Improving Customer Convenience

‘Managing Road Name Addresses from Large Parcel Unit Land Lot Numbers to Detailed Facility Unit’

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Kang Jun-seok) announced on the 20th that it will promote the registration of road name addresses for 10 major buildings within the pier to enhance convenience for users of Busan Port.

BPA Promotes Road Name Address Registration for Major Buildings in Busan Port Wharf ... Improving Customer Convenience Busan New Port.

Since the port area has been registered and managed by lot numbers in large-scale parcels at the pier unit since its establishment, outsiders often have difficulty finding the pier entrance and buildings when visiting.

Considering these inconveniences faced by customers, BPA will improve convenience for Busan Port users by registering road name addresses for facilities with high visitor demand within the port area.

To this end, in September, BPA held meetings with port users such as terminal operators, facility management centers, security companies, and the stevedores’ union to identify the current status of piers that are inconvenient due to difficulty in identifying detailed addresses and to determine the facilities subject to road name address registration. The target facilities include 28 facilities across 9 piers such as operational buildings and security checkpoints, with plans to promote road name address registration by December this year.

However, since Busan Port is a ‘Grade A’ national security facility, even if there is demand for registration of facilities within the terminal, there are many restrictions on registering road name addresses for certain security-sensitive facilities that require precise location information.

Therefore, Busan Port Authority plans to prioritize the registration of road name addresses for operational buildings, convenience facilities, and gates that have registration demand and do not conflict with security zones.

Additionally, shelters indicated in the ‘Busan Port Authority Earthquake and Tsunami Manual’ will also be included in the road name address registration targets.

Once shelter facilities are registered, they will be reflected in various map apps, enabling the public to easily identify and use shelter locations in the event of a disaster within Busan Port.

Lee Sang-kwon, Head of Construction at BPA, stated, “We expect that this road name address registration will greatly improve convenience for workers and users of Busan Port,” and added, “We will continue to collaborate with related organizations to identify and improve customer inconveniences.”
