Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, will expand support for 50% of the copayment for the childcare service starting next year.
According to the county on the 20th, the childcare support project is a program that provides services such as childcare, play activities, school pick-up and drop-off, meal and snack preparation, and safety measures by having childcare workers visit homes with children aged 3 months to 12 years old in families experiencing childcare gaps due to parents' dual-income work.
Currently, families using the service receive differential support for service fees based on income type. From next year, Gochang-gun will secure 147 million KRW of its own funds to expand support by 50% of the copayment for all users regardless of income type.
For preschool children, the copayment for care services per hour will be reduced as follows: Type A (households with income below 75% of the median income) from 1,745 KRW to 873 KRW; Type B (below 120% of the median income) from 4,652 KRW to 2,326 KRW; Type C (below 150% of the median income) from 9,304 KRW to 4,652 KRW; and Type D (above 150% of the median income) from 11,630 KRW to 5,815 KRW.
Through the expanded county support, it is expected that the use of childcare services will be revitalized among Type C and D households, which have relatively high copayment amounts and lower usage rates.
Meanwhile, 30 childcare workers are currently engaged in caregiving activities in Gochang-gun.
To use the childcare service, the child's parent or guardian must visit the eup/myeon administrative welfare center to apply or apply through Bokjiro, and then request the service via the childcare service website.
Since the copayment support for the childcare service is a Gochang-gun autonomous project, applications can only be made by visiting the eup/myeon administrative welfare center.
