Tomorrow's Art Sector Business Briefing for Next Year

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Management Support Center will hold a briefing session on next year's art sector projects on the 21st at Jeongdong 1928 Art Center. They will announce the major art promotion projects reflecting the opinions from last month's on-site meeting and present the direction of support. The overall contents and preparation schedule of the "Art Promotion Act," promulgated in July, will also be explained. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set different implementation timelines for each issue to maximize the reflection of art stakeholders' opinions and allow preparation time. The establishment of the institutional foundation for art promotion policies will be implemented in July next year, the incorporation of the art industry into the institutional system in July 2026, and the introduction of resale royalty rights in July 2027, respectively.

The government budget proposal for art promotion next year has significantly increased compared to this year. In particular, 4.75 billion KRW (this year 1.895 billion KRW) will be invested in supporting emerging artists, 12.726 billion KRW (this year 7.81 billion KRW) for revitalizing art distribution including support for the art industry, and 4.643 billion KRW (this year 3.72 billion KRW) to enhance public enjoyment of art. Support will also be strengthened for relatively less attended or marginalized areas. Comprehensive marketing such as participation in art fairs and networking will be assisted for emerging artists not affiliated with galleries, and the production of planned critical essays on Korean artists and exhibitions will be supported. International academic conferences and digital exhibitions will be encouraged to establish a digital art foundation.
