With about 1.2 million followers on X, she reported that her account was hacked on the 11th. The suspected hacker accessed the account and impersonated the First Lady, posting multiple insulting messages about Brazilian President Luiz In?cio Lula da Silva as well as misogynistic content.
In response, Da Silva stated, "As research conducted by women has already shown, many public figures have already been hacked," and added, "The platform must be held accountable and regulated in some form."
She also emphasized, "Elon Musk became much wealthier because of my account being hacked, and that is the problem," adding, "We need to have discussions about how social media is monetized."
Earlier, on the 18th, the First Lady posted a lengthy message on her X account detailing the hacking incident. According to her explanation, the hacker was a 17-year-old teenager.
The First Lady pointed out, "Our network team acted quickly, but the nightmare continued for an hour and 30 minutes until the hacked account was shut down," and criticized, "Even recovering the account and handing over the platform report to the police involved discomfort and bureaucracy."
She continued, "It is sad that a teenager tries to spread so much hatred and misogyny against women on the internet," and criticized, "What is even more outrageous is that hate crimes can be freely committed through the platform."
