On the 18th, Gangnam Regional Self-Sufficiency Center shared business results with 17 project teams and 4 companies... Preparing to launch the 5th self-sufficiency enterprise in 4 years
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) held a self-sufficiency project performance report meeting on the 18th at the Gangnam Regional Self-Sufficiency Center.
At this performance report meeting, the business achievements of 17 self-sufficiency project teams and 4 self-sufficiency enterprises were shared, and certificates of commendation were awarded to 6 individuals who contributed to the revitalization of self-sufficiency projects.
Since July, the district has opened new self-sufficiency work teams such as Mongttang Mandu, a dumpling and snack specialty store, and in November, The Dream Hansang, a Korean buffet restaurant, discovering customized jobs and providing employment to about 200 participants.
The Workbridge Project Team, established in January this year to support youth independence, has set up training centers such as Cafe Oasis and a broadcasting studio, offering various programs including employment and entrepreneurship strategies, certification preparation, and psychological counseling.
A remarkable achievement this year is that the fifth self-sufficiency enterprise will soon be launched four years after starting in 2019. The Domasil Cafe SR branch, which began as a self-sufficiency project team, is stepping up to become Domasil SR Cafeteria after preparing for startup. Also, the Saessak Convenience Store Project Team, operated in partnership with BGF Retail, achieved a customer satisfaction ranking in the top 5% in the first half evaluation and the top 20% in the second half evaluation, receiving incentives. As a result of these efforts, Gangnam-gu’s self-sufficiency project won the Encouragement Award in this year’s Ministry of Health and Welfare nationwide regional self-sufficiency center regional specialization project evaluation.
The project teams are also committed to public interest projects. They are promoting specialized projects to discover local vulnerable households, such as providing free meals for elderly living alone and preventing solitary deaths among single-person households. To get closer to local residents, on December 1st, they held a warm winter kimchi-sharing event in collaboration with SR Co., Ltd., a specialized company for SRT high-speed rail.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “This event was organized to allow those participating in self-sufficiency projects throughout the year to communicate and encourage each other,” and added, “Next year, through customized support projects that enhance participants’ work motivation and abilities, we will achieve results where self-sufficiency projects lead to participants’ independence.”
