Systematic Management of Fine Dust Reduction Projects in Underground Stations and Effective Air Quality Control through New Technology Integration
Seoul subway is expected to become more comfortable with improvements in fine dust levels.
Seoul Metro (President Baek Ho) and FITI Testing & Research Institute (Director Kim Hwayoung) announced on the 19th that they have signed a business agreement to maximize the effects of projects related to improving indoor air quality in the subway.
FITI Testing & Research Institute is the first designated specialized technical support center for fine dust reduction in the industrial sector in Korea, providing consulting on fine dust reduction in the environmental field as well as comprehensive testing and certification services.
Through this agreement, both organizations plan to systematically manage fine dust reduction projects within subway stations and focus on air quality management by incorporating new technologies, aiming to create a clean and comfortable subway environment for the 6 million citizens who use the subway daily.
The main points include ▲establishing implementation plans for the 4th subway station air quality improvement measures (2023?2027) ▲building a cooperative system focused on measuring and managing indoor air quality in subway stations ▲joint research and pilot application for the introduction and development of new technologies (4th Industrial Revolution) ▲and promoting the introduction of a voluntary indoor air quality management system in subway stations.
The institute has been conducting verification analysis and evaluation services on the high-concentration fine dust reduction effects in subway stations since December this year. It analyzes and evaluates the measurement effects before and after applying high-concentration ultrafine dust reduction technology on subway station platforms.
With this business agreement, it is expected that both organizations will be able to practice sustainable ESG management by expanding the application of smart air quality management systems in the future.
Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro, said, “Starting in 2024, the company will accelerate efforts to improve air quality that citizens can feel by comprehensively upgrading all outdated facilities to manage ultrafine dust in subway stations,” adding, “Along with fundamental facility improvements, we will take the lead in creating a comfortable and safe subway environment by incorporating FITI Institute’s new technologies for air quality improvement.”
