Due to the extension of the project period, 11,736.17㎡ out of the total 17,365.3㎡ of the target site, where construction has been completed, has been partially opened in the first phase.
The newly opened park area is designed with various spaces including ▲Cultural Yard ▲Performance Yard ▲Silver Grass Garden ▲Participation Garden ▲Pine Tree Garden ▲Waterway ▲Tree-lined Street, providing leisure and cultural relaxation spaces for local residents who have long awaited the use of the park.
Beodeulgae Culture Park will serve as a gateway park connecting Yongsan Park and Yongsan Station Plaza through two pedestrian-only roads stretching straight along Hangang-daero. It is a key part of the pedestrian green axis connecting Yongsan Station Plaza, Media Plaza, Yongsan Parkway, and Yongsan Promenade in the existing Yongsan Parkway master plan.
For this partial opening, the district announced on the 8th the implementation plan (change) approval, which divides the project area into two phases (Phase 1: 11,736.17㎡, Phase 2: 5,899.13㎡), and after final review, announced the completion of construction for the first phase area on the 15th.
The remaining second phase area will be developed in connection with the underground passage linking to Sinyongsan Station subway, library, and other underground park spaces. Construction is planned to begin next year, with opening scheduled for February 2025.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Through the change notification, we have prioritized opening the parts where construction has been largely completed, as residents nearby wished. We will minimize inconvenience and strictly manage safety so that Beodeulgae Culture Park can become the central axis of the pedestrian network connecting Yongsan Park and Yongsan Station."
