LG Electronics also launches 'AI Laptop' equipped with Intel CPU... Direct competition with Samsung

LG Electronics announced on the 15th that it will launch the laptop 'LG Gram' equipped with an artificial intelligence (AI) central processing unit (CPU). The new product features Intel's next-generation processor 'Core Ultra (Intel® Core™ Ultra)' CPU, which was unveiled on the same day in Samsung Electronics' 'Galaxy Book4 series.' LG Electronics plans to release additional lineups by the end of this month and aims to lead the AI laptop market.

The Intel Core Ultra CPU is the first Intel chip to incorporate the semiconductor neural processing unit (NPU) Intel® AI Boost, specialized for AI computations, enabling AI processing without network connectivity. Graphics performance has also improved to about twice that of previous CPUs (based on the Ultra 7 model). By applying Foveros 3D packaging technology, power efficiency has been enhanced.

The software 'Gram Link,' installed for the first time on the LG Gram, helps customers use their laptops freely. Gram Link connects laptops and smartphones without restrictions from operating systems (OS) such as Android or iOS. It allows two-way file transfers between laptops and smartphones without requiring internet or router connections. Up to 10 devices, including smartphones and tablets, can be registered to one Gram, and files are saved directly on the PC, minimizing security concerns related to cloud storage or transfers.

Applying AI technology, photos and videos are categorized into 38 predefined categories (such as people, time, and place). The AI model that detects and recognizes faces, along with a clustering algorithm that groups data with similar characteristics, classifies photos containing people by individual. The categorized photos and videos can be easily searched using complex keywords desired by the customer.

LG Electronics will start selling a limited quantity of 1,000 units from the 18th at 8 PM through its online brand shop, ELASHOW, until the 29th. The price is KRW 1,990,000 for the 17-inch model and KRW 1,890,000 for the 16-inch model.
